Robert Semchyshyn
Robert Semchyshyn is the President of Tri-Star Technical Ltd.. He has worked in the field of structured cabling, voice/data, fiber optic, audio/video and wireless installations for over 31 years. In 1996, Robert became one of the first BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD) in Manitoba, a certification he still maintains today.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba (1988) and a Diploma in Telecommunications from Red River College (1990). He was a board member for the Telecommunications program at Red River College for three years.
In 2015, Labour and Immigration Minister, Erna Braun, appointed Robert to a three-year term on the Board of Electrical Examiners; the board provides advice on matters relating to the Electricians License Act, assessment of limited special trade electrical examination applications, and any part of electrical work in the Province of Manitoba.
In 2016, Robert Semchyshyn became the president of the Electrical Association of Manitoba. He is the first President to hold the position for a three year term. While as president, through the Worker Compensation Board Research and Workplace Innovation Program (RWIP), a Project Advisory Committee was established with key stakeholder representation from labour, industry, public sector and training providers to develop five training courses to reduce the risk of injury to electrical workers, improve safety culture in the electrical community and fill a gap in the current training offered to electrical workers in Manitoba. Prior to be being president for the Association, Robert was chair of the membership committee and presently holds the chair for the Industry Standards.
In addition to the Electrical Association of Manitoba, Robert was also on the Communications Technician Committee that helped develop the curriculum and exam requirements for the Voice/Data/Video Class M License for the Province of Manitoba. Robert continues to provide technical support to many of the Electrical Engineers in Manitoba. In 2018, the Winnipeg Construction Association approached Robert to be part of a group mandated with conducting a comprehensive review of the Manitoba Trade Definitions, which was published in 2019.
Robert has completed many specialty training programs with manufacturers including Belden, Berk-Tek, CommScope, Corning, Federal Pioneer, Hubbell, Leviton, Omron, Panduit, Specified Technologies Inc. (Fire Stop Instructional training), and various courses with the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba, The Canadian Construction Association (Gold Seal Program) and the Total Quality Management program.
Robert is a member of BICSI, The Construction Safety Association of Manitoba, The Fiber Optic Association, Merit Contractors’ Association, Winnipeg Construction Association, Winnipeg Executives Association, and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
Jeff Ward
Since acquiring his degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc.E.E.), Jeff has spent over 20 years helping companies with their network infrastructure. He began as part of a team working to develop and install fixed wireless systems in the time before Wi-Fi existed, and integrate them into fully functional WAN and ISP network systems. He then moved on to industrial controls and communication before joining Tri-Star Technical.
Jeff is a certified installer and designer for Belden, Commscope, and Panduit cabling systems but the world beyond the physical layer is where Jeff has found his niche with Tri-Star Technical. He takes pride in working with clients to design and implement networks and cabling systems to meet their present and future needs. Jeff carries the Ekahau ECSE wireless (Wi-Fi) design certification and has experience designing wireless networks for when coverage is the most important concern as well as high-density situations where capacity is paramount. He is also an Axis Certified Professional with experience designing and maintaining security camera networks for high resolution IP network camera installations.

Darrell Klassen
Darrell is a Project Manager with Tri-Star Technical Ltd. As a member of the Tri-Star team, Darrell is committed to enhancing his area of expertise through education and leading-edge training programs. Darrell has accomplished certification with Belden, CommScope, Corning, EXFO, Panduit and many in the Construction Safety Services.
Darrell’s experience and dedication has provided residential, commercial and industrial clients with quality work tailored to their individual requirements. His background as a journeyman construction electrician provides the basis for his wealth of knowledge in implementing and supporting effective cabling solutions.
Darrell’s 34 years with Tri-Star have included progressively supervisory roles including ten years as a foreman. He began working in the field in 1983. His involvement in projects has included all aspects. Darrell has been in on the designing as well as the implementation of these projects. He has also been extensively involved in the service industry of the company, which involves troubleshooting problems for customers' projects.

Daniel Jeanson
Dan Jeanson (Dan) brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in electrical and construction to his role as Chief Estimator at Tri-Star Technical Ltd.. His journey in the trades began at just 13 years old, working alongside his father as an apprentice electrician. These early years shaped his leadership style and instilled a strong work ethic, deep technical knowledge, and a genuine respect for the industry. They also rooted his belief in the importance of people and in finding joy and purpose in the work you do.
After earning his Red Seal in Electrical in 2005, Dan advanced through key roles in the industry—including Site Supervisor, Project Manager, and Estimator—playing a critical part in a wide range of major builds. In 2018, he was recognized with Merit Manitoba’s Outstanding Site Supervisor Award for his leadership on a landmark 24-storey condominium project.
